The Challenge of Online Teaching and Study at Shechen

Shechen School in Nepal is in strict lockdown because of Covid-19.

(Shechen School, a primary-secondary school located on the grounds of the Shechen Monastery, has 180 students enrolled in grades Pre-kindergarten to 9th-grade.)

Lockdown began during the school's Spring break, the majority of its students are still at home, many in remote villages. Seventy younger children stayed in the monastery. Access to computers and the internet is difficult in Nepal, but seventy-five percent of our students are learning online.

The school's brilliant principal, Jhabindra Subedi, designed an adjusted curriculum for online studies and trained 13 teachers on zoom over the last few months, enabling classes to resume. The Shechen School now offers 20 online classes a day, with more being planned. In the next weeks the school will conduct its first online exam.

Your generous support is essential for the Shechen School to continue the progress it has made during these challenging times. Funds are needed for:

*Additional Computers * A New Projector * Internet for Teachers and Students Working from Home * Internet for the School * Online Teaching Materials.

We are grateful to our loyal dedicated teachers who enthusiastically learned a new system of teaching, continuing to show their love and concern for the students.

Please join them and help the children of Shechen who are eager to study and learn!

You can donate by credit card above, but if you prefer by check or bank transfer, please contact shechen@sprynet.com for information. Thank you.
